In Bliss, a cat lounges contentedly inside a large traditional Nyonya pot, as though it has always belonged there. Instead of earth or water, the vessel cradles whiskers and quiet satisfaction. Around it, peonies bloom extravagantly in brilliant colours—flourishing, dramatic, unapologetically alive.

The Nyonya pot carries echoes of Peranakan heritage—domestic rituals, ancestral kitchens, courtyards filled with memory. Yet here, tradition gains a gentle twist. The jar becomes a throne. A sanctuary. A perfectly sized hiding place discovered and immediately claimed. Peonies, symbols of prosperity and honour, burst outward in full glory—but the true abundance lies at the centre: a cat completely at ease. No grand entrance. No performance. Just the soft confidence of one who knows it is safe, wanted, and home. In the spirit of Welcome Home, the work suggests that belonging can be both sacred and slightly mischievous. Sometimes bliss is profound. Sometimes it simply looks like finding the perfect spot and deciding, “Yes. This is mine.” The accompanying haiku captures that gentle glow:

Bliss wraps like soft dawn,
Serenity in each breath—
Smiles light up the day.

Here, home is heritage. Home is colour. Home is comfort. And occasionally, home is a very satisfied cat in a very beautiful jar.
