Sufian Hamri, also known as TR853-1 (pronounced “Trase One”), has used aerosol paint cans since 1999. As a self-taught graffiti artist, the 33-year-old has not only piqued the interest of organisations such as OCBC and Facebook Singapore, but also won recognition from the Singaporean government. To improve his artistic expertise, he earned a BA(Hons) in Painting from LASALLE College of the Arts, which he finished in 2007.

Trase-1 has since expanded beyond standard graffiti-on-the-wall art to explore other sub-genres such as stencil art and self-portraits.

He has recently created art pieces that are both visually simple and cheekily literal in terms of sociopolitical critique.
