Biography

Aaron Gan (b. 1979, Singapore) is an award-winning contemporary artist best known for his evocative paintings of Singapore’s urban landscapes. He was the 2015 UOB Painting of the Year (Gold Award), Established Artist Category, Singapore winner—one of the country’s most prestigious art awards.

Gan graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Dean’s List) from the University of Western Australia in 2003. In 2012, he left his corporate career to fulfil a lifelong ambition of becoming a professional artist. Since then, he has held numerous sell-out exhibitions, with his works widely collected and commissioned both locally and internationally.

His collectors and institutional patrons include The Prime Minister’s Office, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Library Board, GIC, Wheelock Properties, Julius Baer, and The Association of Banks in Singapore. Gan’s paintings have also been presented as official gifts to foreign dignitaries worldwide. Notably, during Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s inaugural visit to the United States in 2016, his painting Balestier Road was presented to U.S. President Barack Obama.

Beyond fine art practice, Gan has collaborated with leading international brands. In 2017, he worked with Nespresso on a regional campaign across Asia, was appointed Art Ambassador for Faber-Castell Singapore in 2018, and collaborated with Castiglion del Bosco on an exclusive Zodiac wine label series in 2020.
